so, my birthday is coming up and i have always been the type to want to get one or two big gifts, rather than several small gifts. i believe in buy the best, once. although i am not at the age 'investment purchases' are justified, i am an (admitted) expensivaholic. i promise i'm not a total brat, and i don't expect to receive anything on this list. but a girl can dream, right?
1. balenciaga ballet-inspired crop top 2. balenciaga spring 2013 knuckle rings (plEASE) 3. rag & bone fedora a la saint laurent s/s12 but more affordable, if you can call a $200 designer HAT affordable. 4. the perfect boyfriend blazer, courtesy of alexander wang. wang is my shit (my good shit, not the bad kind). 5. leather baseball hat. not too picky here, the asos one is mighty fine. 6. classic shearling jacket by acne for those irritating cold days canada likes to remind me IT'S CANADA! THE TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FREE! 7. chanel leather espadrilles, not much to explain here... it's chanel. 8. alexander mcqueen skull bangle to add some much-needed edge to my current spring wardrobe of frothy silk camisoles, lacy blouses, and 50s-esque light wash shorts. 9. the lovely (and expensive) tibi x anita ko floating earrings so i can pretend i have a million piercings, upping my badass status, when in real life it's a $2000 ear cuff. 10. comme des fuckdown. 'nuff said. 11. undecided. a new classic handbag. preferably under $1000, but this new saint laurent is amazing. i am also liking the alexander wang pelican, which is marginally less expensive. 12. one teaspoon shorts, because, let's face it, we all need a little bit of the 'trash whore' factor in our summer wardrobes. ;)
the ideal sunday morning: lattes, laduree, lace. thick, cozy cashmere cardigans and soft, finely knit thigh-high socks. reading vintage copies of paris vogue, all pearl earrings and cute lip balm and statement watches. who are we trying to impress? what drives us to appear lovely, even when it seems like there is nothing to do?
i fucking love this. when i'm twentysomething and going to a party or club opening or whatever the heck twentysomethings do that require dressing one part classy, one part sexy, and one part woman, this is it! the formfitting, cropped cutout balenciaga top is just perfect. the cotton carven shorts are more modest and make things a little less dressy. an iconic clutch somehow balances the slightly trendier top, especially in shiny patent leather (mix up the textures!). classic 120 pigalles are a must, they are sensual yet old-fashion, trendy yet classic. a vintage gold patek with a bold bracelet adds some menswear inspired androgyny to this decidely feminine look. and when you're doing monochromatic, you've got to do a red lip. it's just... you've got to.
